Baboumain had held the world log lift record before turning vegan in 2011. However, Baboumain said he felt stronger after switching to a vegan diet. During his first campaign with PETA, the Iranian-born strongman said “The world’s strongest animals are plant eaters. Gorillas, buffaloes, elephants, and me.” However, the strongman would back up his statement by setting new records.
In 2012, Baboumain set the Beer Keg lifting and Front Hold world records. The following year, he set the Yoke Carry world record. In 2015, the Armenian King broke his won record after he carried 1224 lbs for just over 10 meters. While Brian Shaw broke his record for weight with an insane 1,565 lb Yoke Carry at the Arnold Classic 2017, Shaw walked only 4 meters with the weight. Although Baboumain has retired, his passion for strength sports and veganism remains intact.
