With three open-heart surgeries done on himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed some crucial guidance on how to keep one’s heart health risk minimal by simply judging one’s present heartbeat rates. Schwarzenegger observed that although most people are told that their heartbeat rate is normal, many people often overlook that after a certain point, the risk of heart disease increases exponentially.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is 77 years old at present and he is conscious about his heart health more than ever, especially when he learned about the genetics that has been passed down to him from his mother’s side. While taking care of his own heart problems, the bodybuilding icon announced that people whose heart rate goes beyond 70 beats in a minute would have a greater risk of heart disease by almost 78 percent.

In his latest Newsletter, the bodybuilder shared that a heart-beat range of 60-100 beats per minute has been normalized. However, the reality is much more scary. He wrote that when the number goes above 80, the risk factor goes up exponentially. But the issues start happening from as low as 70 beats a minute.

But Arnold Schwarzenegger asked people not to worry about it, because one can bring their heart rate under control through some simple lifestyle changes. He thus wrote, “You can lower your heart rate through exercise, losing body fat, less stress, better sleep, and cutting out tobacco and alcohol.” He also mentioned that one might achieve this within only two weeks if one sticks to their routine.

The bodybuilder previously talked about how to reduce one’s heart disease risk several times. Let us look at what he had to say about it.

In another Newsletter issue, Schwarzenegger revealed how certain research work suggests that doing both resistance training and aerobic exercise helps in decreasing cardiovascular diseases. He described an experiment where they showed that people who lift weights reduced their mortality rate by 22% while those who do cardio reduced it by 34%. Then he added, “But the winner was doing weights and cardio. The combined effort led to nearly a 50 percent reduction in mortality risk.” Additionally, Arnold Schwarzenegger also suggested how much intensity or frequency one should have in the gym. He said, “The current recommendation is to get 150 to 300 min of moderate-intensity exercise or 75 to 150 minutes of vigorous-intensity exercise per week.

Do you think you need to check your resting heart rate right now? Do it at once for Schwarzenegger also explained how to do it all by yourself. Grab a chair and take 10-12 deep breaths after you sit comfortably. Then put your fingers on your pulse and count the number of heartbeat you get in 15 seconds and then multiply it by 4. There you have it. Reach out to your doctor if you feel your range is outside of what Schwarzenegger said to be normal.
