Platz’s journey to greatness is one for the ages. With relentless dedication to leg training, he earned himself the nickname “The Golden Eagle” and cemented his place in bodybuilding history. The Instagram page, Golden Bodybuilding shared a post comparing the QuadFather’s photos from 1973, during his college years, to his appearance at the 1981 Mr. Olympia contest where he placed third.

Platz has always been open about his past use of performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). Earlier, in a revealing interview uploaded to the Fitness Motivational YouTube channel, he discussed the substances he used during his competitive bodybuilding days. Admitting to spending around $300 per Olympia on drugs, he mentioned taking Winstrol and DECA, while also emphasizing that success in his era was more about hard work and mindset than PEDs.

Since his initial confession about PED use, Platz has revisited the topic several times. Despite his transparency, the recent backlash suggests that some netizens think thinks were better before Platz engaged in PED use. Let us see what they had to say.

Fans urge Platz to not promote PEDs

Most fitness enthusiasts who commented on the post urged to refrain from celebrating or promoting the use of performance-enhancing drugs, suggesting that glorifying these substances can have negative consequences for aspiring bodybuilders or fitness enthusiasts. “Stop glorifying PEDs,” said one user. Many expressed disappointment with Platz’s transformation over time.”100x better before,” remarked one golden era bodybuilding fan.

“What ster**ds does to your face is insane” highlighted one user. “He is aging very fast due to ster**ds,” another wrote, believing that Platz’s accelerated aging was a result of ster**d use. However, a few praised Platz’s appearance and eagerly enquired about his age and training history. “Tom Platz looks PHENOMENAL in the first pic – how old is he there, and how long had he been training for?” Some humorously compared Platz pictures with Former President of the USA Doland Trump, saying “Donald Trump was strong when he was young.”

While Tom Platz’s throwback transformation has sparked criticism online, one cannot deny the fact that he was one of the greatest to grace the sport. What do you think about these pictures of the Quadfather? Let us know in the comments below.
