It is easy to understand that the other person is getting bullied because of the actions when a person has been bullied himself in the past. Joey Swoll, CEO of Gym Positivity and a fitness influencer is a proponent of inducing positive behavior in a gym. Moreover, he bashes the person who makes fun of others or breaks any societal norm. Additionally, Swoll never hid his dark past, instead, shared it as a medium via which other people might get a lesson. Joey Swoll was bullied as a young boy and for the whole second semester, he was required to sleep in the cafeteria near the college gym. The CEO of Gym Positivity was addicted to prescription opioids in 2020, however, he worked on himself and came back stronger in 2021 to help the Fitness community.

Recently, he shared a video on his social media handle about a person who was filming an old man who was not able to use a workout machine properly. Also, this person uploaded the video with the caption ‘Never seen this workout before.”

Joey Swoll posted a video on his Instagram account with the caption, Making fun of an old man at the gym? Shame on you. It’s videos like this that make so many afraid to even step foot in a gym today.” Moreover, while reading the last line of the caption, it will make so much more sense. Most of the old people who want to commence their fitness journey cannot do so because of humiliation, thinking that if they go to the gym, all the eyeballs will be on them further making the gym environment toxic. Thus, Joey proceeds with the video by saying, “Pardon my language but this video really pisses me off. To record and make fun of an old man at the gym, really? So maybe he doesn’t know what he is doing, maybe he is new, maybe he just started going to the gym. “ Most old people already do not think of stepping into a gym full of youngsters and making this video that person humiliated them more.

Moreover, Joey Swoll makes a staggering statement quoting, “You know people of every age start their fitness journey but since you know everything and since you’re so much better than him, why not go up to him and show them how to use that machine.” This statement and in fact this whole incident speaks a lot about inclusivity. The opportunity to go to a gym, work out, and get into shape isn’t just the right of youngsters and so many bodybuilders in their 50s and even 60s have already proved it. With this video, Swoll is trying to bring forth that level of inclusivity among common people.

He then continues the video by quoting, “But no you would rather shoot a video to post on social media so you can make fun of him for likes and attention and I think it’s funny that you post in your bio a Bible: Joshua 19 which talks about courage and strength and that God is with you everywhere.” Posting good thoughts and positive verses in a bio does not instill a good mindset. Instead, behave positively and help people rather than make fun of them just because your community of friends does that. Living in an era of social media has taught people something, to mind their own business but there still are people left who haven’t learned the difference.

Moreover, Swoll says, “Yet you think it’s okay to behave this way. To bully an old man. Let me remind you something, that is somebody’s father, somebody’s grandfather. One of these days you’re gonna do this to the wrong person’s loved one and you’re not gonna like how they respond. Furthermore, he concludes the video by saying, You need to do better. Mind your own business.”
