‘World’s Strongest Disabled Man’ Pulls Huge 10-Tonne Stunt for a Golden Achievement

Dave Walsh, an army man till 2010, took to able-bodied Strongman competitions in 2012. But life turned upside down for the 36-year-old after he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The condition took a toll on his active life and made him constrict to the wheelchair. He slipped into depression and felt miserable. But Walsh found a new lease on life after discovering the disabled competitions within the sport in 2017.

Five years down the line, Dave Walsh broke the Guinness World Record by pulling off an unimaginable feat.

Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis had made the Strongman withdraw from the abled side of the competition. Not being able to do what he loves, made Walsh depressed. “When I was diagnosed with MS and forced out of the competitions – as my body wasn’t playing games any more – I fell into depression and didn’t know what to do,” he said, per Daily Star.

But the father of three was determined to better his life and came across the disabled competitions for the sport. He ventured into it with a wheelchair and now managed to pull a 10-tonne truck while being in a wheelchair. He broke the previous record by pulling a five times greater weight.

A happy Walsh said,” I managed to pull ten tonnes and break the Guinness World Record.” However, the Walsh desired to pull 17 tonnes but was limited due to size restrictions. His friends and family witnessed the outstanding feat. The determination to pull off the feat came after a friend’s comment.

The incident that provoked Walsh to do a truck pull

The former army man was once told by a fellow Strongman that it would be impossible for him to pull a truck. “I wanted to prove him wrong, so I found someone who was doing truck pull session and went along,” Walsh confessed.

A lot is lined up for Walsh as he would train to defend his title of the ‘World’s Strongest Disabled Man’ this year. He aims to do a truck pull of 20 tonnes followed by a 25-tonne. He is even contending for Arnolds in Birmingham in September, where he could show his talent to his spectators, which may include bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger and actor Sylvester Stallone.
