Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Ex-Wife Maria Shriver Receives Special Award for Advocacy in Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement

Maria Shriver, the ex-wife of the bodybuilding legend and seven-time Mr. Olympia Champion Arnold Schwarzenegger, has always been on a path to support women’s health. The Alzheimer’s movement is close to Shriver’s heart, and she has devoted herself to it. The Austrian Oak’s ex-wife recently won an award for her battle against Alzheimer’s. 

Shriver has earlier tied up with the Cleveland Clinic in the fight against Alzheimer’s. With her movement picking up speed and even garnering praise from Oprah Winfrey, Shriver now has added one more feather to her cap.

The Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) is an organization that focuses on science and education to improve women’s health. Taking to X, the SWHR revealed how Shriver had won this year’s Women’s Health Visionary Award for her unwavering advocacy for women’s health and Alzheimer’s research. They added, “We recognize Shriver’s work in sparking crucial conversations about the unique health challenges faced by women. #SWHRGala

Shriver received the award from U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy. Upon receiving the award, Shriver said some heart-touching words. “This is a watershed moment for women—and I mean women of all skin colors, women of all ages, and women of all income levels,” she exclaimed.

“Women’s research is suddenly front-page news, and now we get to decide what story we want to tell collectively,” she added. The National Alliance for Caregiving also reposted the post and celebrated Shriver’s latest achievement. They wrote, “We’re excited to celebrate progress in women’s health tonight with @SWHR. The momentum for gender equity in research is building thanks to the leadership of fierce advocates like @mariashriver!”

Earlier this month, Shriver inaugurated the Women’s Comprehensive Health and Research Center at the Cleveland Clinic. Recently, she had also informed fans about her partnership with them as well.  

A new partnership to achieve greater heights in the future

Shriver took to her Instagram and broke the news of the new partnership, revealing how she recently co-hosted a show named “The Power of Research: The Need for Gender Equity” hosted by “@womensalzmovement, @clevelandclinic, and @swhr_official.” “Partnerships are crucial. We don’t get anywhere or get anything accomplished on our own.”

She highlighted how amazed she felt witnessing such smart researchers, thinkers, and scientists gathering all at once for such a noble cause. Among them were Dr. Jessica Caldwell, Dr. Tatiana Byzova, Dr. Taylor Fama Levine, and Dr. Yuan Hou. Dr. Tatiana Byzova, Dr. Taylore Fama Levine, and Dr. Yuan Hou, who won the inaugural Moshlife Grant along with Dr. Eugene Podrez for their work and research in neuroscience and immunity.
