Interestingly, golfing legend Tiger Woods turned down a hefty deal that was worth around $1 billion. Greg Norman has got Lee Westwood, Phil Mickelson, and Dustin Johnson for the breakaway tour. Norman even tried to get Woods, but the 46-year-old declined the $1 billion offer.
Greg Norman revealed, “Woods turned down a deal that was mind-blowingly enormous; we’re talking about high nine digits.” However, Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez rejected a hefty pay-day even before the golfing legend.
Boxing fans witnessed one of the biggest upsets of this generation, as the Russian boxer, Dmitry Bivol, had outclassed Canelo Alvarez on May 7. Fans were already considering Alvarez as the winner owing to his long-running winning streak. However, the Russian quickly made headlines as he defeated the Mexican favorite.
Apparently, Alvarez was rumored to face Gennady Golovkin for a trilogy fight after facing Bivol. Fascinating enough, he had a $100 million offer for his third fight of the year. According to reports, Alvarez, who has a net worth of $180 million, had a $55 million contract to fight Errol Spence Jr. after accepting a $45 million fight against Jermall Charlo at 168 pounds. The superstar, however, turned down the enormous $100 million offer.
Well, both Alvarez and Woods are renowned names in their own fields. They can certainly get more deals like this in the future. Currently, the Mexican boxer is preparing for his fight with Gennady Golovkin on September 17.
