De La Hoya then stated that these things were bound to happen and that things would get “heated” with every fighter Garcia will face in the future, “I think every fighter that Ryan is gonna face now its gonna get heated. Everybody wants to beat him.” He told the reporter.
Moreover, He then compared Garcia to golfing legend Tiger Woods, stating that both of them have had targets on their back because of their fame and following, “it’s like funny because in golf, cause I’m a big golfer. So like for instance, if you beat Tiger Woods it doesn’t make you Tiger Woods and everybody thinks that it’s going to make them Tiger Woods. I think Ryan may be in that same position where he has so many followers and everybody wants those followers and everybody wants that attention and everybody wants to beat him so bad, so there is going to be that friction you know with everybody he faces.” He said.

Lastly, he added that this only motivated Garcia and compared the Flash to a younger version of himself. ” It’s good because it just motivates him. It kind of gets his juices flowing, you know, and it reminds me of me when I was a kid when I was fighting,” He added.
It seems like De La Hoya is confident that Garcia will reach the heights that Woods has been able to, although it is too soon to tell at this stage in Garcia’s career.
