

Tyson Fury’s first bout with Deontay Wilder ended in a controversial draw. It was a fight in which both men had their moments. But, many critics believed that Fury was robbed of the victory. Fury had displayed elite level boxing against Wilder for the majority of the fight. It is hard to argue the judges’ decision because Wilder scored two knock-downs in that fight.

Ben Davison breaks down Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder
Speaking to BT Sport, Fury’s former trainer Ben Davison recently revealed the reason for the knockdown. Davison revealed some of Fury’s tendencies which were ultimately exploited by Wilder. He explains how his ‘face touch’ habit during a reset in the 8th round allowed Wilder to capitalize on it later.

“Something happened at the end of the eighth round: when Tyson got hit with a right hand on the top of his head, he wiped his nose, touched his face, a bit of a reset.” Said Davison.
He further added that it was due to this lapse in concentration that Tyson Fury got knocked down in the 12th round.

It was a heavy price that Fury paid in their first fight. The two knock-downs might have swayed the judges which led to a draw. The duo is scheduled for a rematch on February 22. Both men are confident of getting the victory.

Fury has vowed to knock Wilder out and Wilder has shown keen interest in ripping Fury’s head off his body. The press conferences may not carry as much heat compared to their first bout. But, one can be assured that both men will show up in their best form.
