However, The Gypsy King does not think that this praise is warranted for the Ukrainian boxer. Moreover, Fury feels that he will provide Usyk an opportunity of a lifetime by fighting him. In an interview with Talksport, Fury claimed that Usyk was relatively unknown and that giving him a fight would turn him into a ‘legend’. He also compared his situation to the rivalry between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

me giving him a fight, It’s me giving him an opportunity in becoming a legend like McGregor did with Khabib. Nobody knew who the f*ck Khabib was until he fought McGregor,” said Fury.

Moreover, he even referred to McGregor as a ‘legend’ who can turn his opponent’s careers around. “Nobody knew who these guys were until they fight the legend in the game.”

Fury certainly thinks that there are a lot of similarities between him and McGregor in how they approach their sport. Both fighters have a knack for promoting themselves, which has turned out pretty well for them. Moreover, Fury also has some validity in his point. Usyk only came into the limelight after his first victory over AJ, prior to that he was unknown among casual fans.

Tyson Fury wants $592 million to fight Usyk

In the interview, Fury also claimed that he was willing to fight Usyk. However, he stated that it would purely be from a financial motive and gave Usyk’s team a week to send their offer. “I don’t mind chucking a dog a bone, but I don’t want to chuck him the full f****** dogs’ home. They have a week. It’s August 24. They have a week to submit their offers. I want it in writing with proof of funds. This fight is purely about money.” said Fury.

He then demanded £500 million or $592 million to fight Usyk, citing it to be boxing’s biggest fight. “It’s the biggest fight in the world, so it needs to be the biggest payday in the world. Mayweather got £400million to fight Pacquiao. I want £500m!” He added.

Although Fury would have liked to have a match with fellow Brit Anthony Joshua in the UK, that doesn’t seem like a possibility. The Gypsy King will have to take on Usyk sometime in the future to keep his WBC title or retire once and for all.
