Kamaru Usman and Canelo Alvarez are undoubtedly in their prime form right now, running through their respective sport with flawless dominance. That said, UFC welterweight champion Usman has also envisioned himself stopping boxing superstar and 168 lbs undisputed titlist, Alvarez if they ever lock horns in a pugilistic collision.
It’s hard to picture Usman dominating Alvarez in a boxing scrap. However, the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ has claimed to stop p4p king in the ring, that too on Mexican Independence day. While the boxing icon has seemingly ignored the call-out, veteran fight analyst Joe Rogan has picked some sparking similarities between both the champions. In an exclusive interaction in one of his episodes, Rogan detailed how both men have progressed in each fight.

Rogan said, “Like we said, these guys like Kamaru Usman, like Canelo Alvarez. Like these guys who are just consummate champions. You are just going to get a better version of them every single time they step into the ring.”
Kamaru Usman, who began his MMA career with striking abilities, has now become a knockout artist too. Meanwhile, Canelo Alvarez has also been a prominent boxer to take his opponents to the distance, besides being affluent in scoring KOs.

Both Usman and Alvarez are currently titleholders and shall return to action shortly. Alvarez will face WBA 175 lbs champion Dmitry Bivol on May 7 next. But Usman is yet to have his next title defense on board. As Kamaru Usman is interested in facing Canelo, that fight can be a huge PPV blockbuster stored in for the future.

Can Kamaru Usman actually trade well against Canelo Alvarez?
Usman has shown A-listed striking abilities, but in MMA collisions, which last for five rounds. A boxing fight against Alvarez will demand him to remain strong for 12 rounds where Usman will only be allowed to throw hands. Canelo Alvarez has been boxing for over a decade. And Usman is a novice in that area. Therefore, Usman needs to land an upset and bring something really different to the table to attain the task.

Well, a crossover between a UFC star and boxing icon will also call for Dana White’s involvement. The UFC honcho hasn’t really said anything about it, So. the potential Usman vs Alvarez fight is still not anywhere close to materialization.
