“The Type of Money Something Like That Could Generate”: Frank Warren Impatient About Tyson Fury vs. Jon Jones or Francis Ngannou

In recent times, combat sports have witnessed athletes venturing beyond their traditional disciplines and competing in different sports. These cross-cultural bouts create a sense of allure in the fans and many develop a fervent interest in witnessing clashes between fighters from different sports. Meanwhile, for fighters, this cross-sport bout generates great attention and is lucrative for them.

For these aforementioned incentives, Frank Warren, Tyson Fury‘s promoter, is keen on him squaring off against, Jon Jones or Francis Ngannou by this year’s end. While Ngannou has been vocal about the potential clash in the ring, Jones, on the other hand, has been going back and forth with Fury to face him in MMA. However, Fury has shown no interest in an MMA bout but welcomes Jones in the ring. Witnessing this exchange, Warren promulgates this cross-sport bout for Fury at the earliest.

Frank Warren pushes for Tyson Fury to face either Jon Jones or Francis Ngannou

The boxing world anticipated Fury to make his comeback against Oleksandr Usyk in his next fight. However, Warren suggests a different route for the WBC champion. Michael Benson on Twitter reports that Fury’s fight against either Jon Jones or Francis Ngannou would be lucrative for him. And in an ideal world, he should be in a ring by year’s end.

He stated, “Asked Frank Warren if Tyson Fury vs Jon Jones/Francis Ngannou could happen: “Yeah, he’s up for that. The type of money something like that could generate – why wait for people saying, ‘Wait until next year,’ when you can make these fights now. Why wouldn’t you do that now?”

Fury’s fight against Ngannou would be more likely as Jones is still contractually bound by the UFC, while Ngannou is a free agent. That being said, Jones had invited Fury in the UFC cage and Fury had a vehement response to the same.

Will Tyson Fury accept Jon Jones invitation to the UFC octagon?

Fury is certain that he would not step in the MMA cage— not just against Jones but any MMA combatant. Speaking to Israel Adesanya, UFC Middleweight champion, Fury stated, “I ain’t going in no cage. F*ck you, F*ck cage fighting,” he adds, “No listen, I am a straight-up boxer. Queensberry rules brother,”

It is safe to say that in a most likely scenario, one would not witness Fury in the MMA cage anytime soon. However, we may see Ngannou or Jones in the ring with him.
