In the world of sports, some athletes transcend their respective disciplines and leave a lasting legacy that carries on for decades. Two such iconic figures are Floyd Mayweather and Michael Jordan, each hailed as the best in their fields. However, while their achievements are undeniable, ‘TBE’s legacy has been shadowed by critics who accuse him of cherry-picking his opponents.

Moreover, this was taken to another level back in 2014 after the former champion came under a lot of scrutiny for not facing another legend Manny Pacquiao at the time. In addition, Sports commentator Stephen A. Smith was not too keen on ‘Money’ ducking his opponents. This even led to a back-and-forth between the two before Mayweather eventually faced ‘Pac Man’ in the ring.

In an interview with FightHype in 2014, Mayweather revealed his complete disregard for the opinions of  Smith. ‘Money’ also emphasized his lack of respect for Smith’s opinions by highlighting that he has never seen the analyst take part in any of the sports he criticizes, whether it be basketball, football, or boxing.

“Listen, I don’t give two flying f**ks about what Stephen A. Smith says. I ain’t never seen Stephen A. Smith dribble a basketball, catch a football, or box, so I can give two flying f**ks what Stephen A. Smith says. Quote me on that! I repeat, I don’t give a f**k what Stephen A. Smith gotta say…He’s just a critic” said Mayweather.

In a recent appearance on Club Shay hosted by Shannon Sharpe, Smith was quick to compare ‘MJ’ and ‘Money’. In a conversation about the best athletes in their respective sports, the sports commentator touted the two as levels above the rest. According to Smith, while athletes like LeBron James were able to beat their opponents, they were not able to make them look less skilled than they were. This was not the case with Jordan and Mayweather, who made their opponents look less skilled.

“You’re talking about Mayweather, right? I would say the same about Jordan, but that’s the difference. That’s what I’m saying, you know, because Jordan will make you look like you’re less than what you are. LeBron would beat you, but MJ will make you look like less than what you are.” he said
