The Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin fight is just one day away from its fruition. Both fighters are like lions of different territories, with wounds and scars from their previous encounters that are still pretty fresh. Now, the duo will lock horns tomorrow for the third time, and fans couldn’t be more excited about it.

The Mexican is one of the highest-paid boxers in the world. Reportedly, his last 5 fights earned him more than what NBA great Michael Jordan made in his entire NBA career.

Saul Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin first squared off inside the squared circle in 2017. The anticipated clash resulted in a highly controversial draw. It was certain that there needed to be a rematch. The two met again just a year after for their sequel. Notably, the Mexican outclassed the Kazakh at the time and emerged as the winner.

Canelo Alvarez’s last five fight purses 

The Mexican received the first loss of his career since his last defeat to Floyd Mayweather in 2013. Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol pulled the biggest upset of boxing by defeating Alvarez. As per reports, the Mexican earned around $15 million for that fight.

Furthermore, Alvarez outclassed Caleb Plant on November 6th, 2021. The much-anticipated event took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, and the former earned a staggering $40 million for the clash. 

Before fighting Plant, he went up against Billy Joe Saunders and took home $15 million, plus the PPV share. Alvarez also fought Avni Yildirim at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, where he earned $30 million.

Additionally, Alvarez had earned $20 million from his battle against Callum Smith. All things considered, Alvarez has earned more than $120 million overall from his last five fights. As for the NBA great Michael Jordan, he garnered only $93.7 million in his entire NBA career.
