Boxing fans around the world can finally witness the lightweight unification bout between the WBC champion Devin Haney and the WBA IBF, WBO, and The Ring champion, George Kambosos Jr. This highly anticipated bout will take place on June 4, 2022, at the Marvel Stadium in Australia.

The weigh-in for the fight did not go as smoothly as everyone expected it to go. George Kambosos Jr. didn’t make the weight.

Damian Lillard visited Devin Haney following George Kambosos Jr’s weigh-in mishap

This heated bout was bound to ignite fireworks. However, the first bit of controversy came during the weigh-in proceedings, Devin Haney weighed in at 134.92 lbs. However, his opponent, Kambosos Jr, was overweight as he weighed in at 135.36 lbs.

Following this incident, the Portland Trail Blazers player, Damian Lillard, came to see Haney. The NBA star expressed his astonishment at what had just happened. He said, “I didn’t expect this man to miss weight. For undisputed though.”

Regardless of what happened at the beginning, the Greek-born fighter returned to the stage with 45 minutes left on the clock after being stripped naked and surrounded by towels.

Consequently, George Kambosos Jr. made weight as he weighed in at 134.49 lbs. Kambosos claimed that he “took a piss.”

Devin Haney strides into the fight with a perfect record of 20-0 with 10 of those wins have come through knockout. ‘The Dream’ is coming off an emphatic decision win against Joseph Diaz. However, he isn’t the only one with a spotless record.

Kambosos Jr. also enters the ring with an undefeated record of 27-0 with 15 of them have come via knockout. ‘Ferocious’ put on a clinical performance against Teofimo Lopez. Nevertheless, this lightweight unification bout will be a spectacle for every boxing fan watching around the world.
