Very proud of my old man @BarryHearn who has been awarded an OBE for services to sport in the Queen’s honors list. He has dedicated his life to creating entertainment through sport and giving athletes the opportunities and platforms to succeed.. well deserved!” he tweeted.

Barry Hearn has made Matchroom Sport a multi-sport promotion company. Apart from boxing, it has a wide reach in darts, football, snooker, and table-tennis.

Hearn founded this promotion company in 1982 and there’s been no turning back ever since. The organization has grown to be a million-dollar conglomerate.

On achieving this enthralling feat, the 72-year-old expressed his emotions.

He said, “I’m incredibly proud to have been awarded an OBE. It has been a great joy to be involved in such a wide range of sports for over 40 years, and to be recognised for that work is an honor.”

Eddie Hearn keen on booking the biggest heavyweight battle of the decade

The Matchroom supremo is following his father’s lead in booking the most electrifying contests in the sport. One such contest that he’s vastly curious about booking is Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury. Post Anthony Joshua’s sensational win over Kubrat Pulev, Hearn started setting up this battle for 2021.

‘We know what we have to do starting from tomorrow, we make the Tyson Fury fight straight away!” he said.
