Legendary boxer Mike Tyson gave a hilarious reaction to Canelo Alvarez when he revealed his plans to retire. Alvarez is at the peak of his powers, and his revelation of his retirement plans drew a typical Mike Tyson reaction from ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet.’

Alvarez is 30-years-old and is enjoying one of the most successful spells of his career. In his last two fights, the champion has looked untouchable on his way to becoming a unified champion. As a result, he is on his way to becoming the undisputed champion.

However, the Mexican joined Tyson on an episode of ‘Hotboxin with Mike Tyson where he was asked, “So how many fights you think you have before you retire?” 

Alvarez stuck to his previous stance on his retirement and said, “Maybe seven years more.”

This drew two different reactions from ‘Iron Mike.’ First, he reacted by saying, “Oh, that’s so awesome.” However, once he realized Alvarez would be only thirty-seven years old in seven years, the legendary boxer said, “37 ain’t sh*t!”

Is Mike Tyson right about Canelo Alvarez’s retirement?

The former heavyweight champion of the world made no secret of what he thought. Clearly, he would like Alvarez to fight beyond thirty-seven. However, does Tyson have a point in saying thirty-seven years is nothing?

Some of the greatest boxers have fought well beyond their late thirties. Tyson himself retired at thirty-nine. Moreover, Floyd Mayweather fought his last fight against Conor McGregor when he was forty years old. In addition, ‘Money’ beat Alvarez when he was thirty-six.

Therefore, there are enough examples of fighters continuing till their late thirties and beyond. However, Alvarez began his professional career when he was fifteen and has been in the sport for almost half his life. Moreover, he has bounced around weight classes and put his body through extreme camps.

Therefore, it will be difficult for the multi-weight champion to continue for as long as others. However, Alvarez is a serial winner, and if the opportunities and opponents are right, he will not turn it down.
