Is Mike Tyson right about Canelo Alvarez’s retirement?

The former heavyweight champion of the world made no secret of what he thought. Clearly, he would like Alvarez to fight beyond thirty-seven. However, does Tyson have a point in saying thirty-seven years is nothing?

Some of the greatest boxers have fought well beyond their late thirties. Tyson himself retired at thirty-nine. Moreover, Floyd Mayweather fought his last fight against Conor McGregor when he was forty years old. In addition, ‘Money’ beat Alvarez when he was thirty-six.

Therefore, there are enough examples of fighters continuing till their late thirties and beyond. However, Alvarez began his professional career when he was fifteen and has been in the sport for almost half his life. Moreover, he has bounced around weight classes and put his body through extreme camps.

Therefore, it will be difficult for the multi-weight champion to continue for as long as others. However, Alvarez is a serial winner, and if the opportunities and opponents are right, he will not turn it down.

What do you think of Mike Tyson’s reaction to Canelo Alvarez’s retirement? Do you think he is right about Alvarez?
