Former five-division world champion, Floyd Mayweather Jr, is undoubtedly one of the greatest boxers to step inside the ring. While his professional record is a Gargantuan feat in itself. Recent years have seen him pursuing a quest to become the undisputed demigod in the world of influencer boxing. However, his recent fight against Geordie Shore star, Aaron Chalmers was a rather lackluster affair.

And the entire event, which marked Mayweather’s UK debut, was slammed by fans. In fact, rapper 50 Cent took to social media to shed light on the empty arena during the fight.

Mayweather faced Chalmers at The O2 Arena in London, England, on February 25, 2023. The fight, however, was not what fans had expected.

Meanwhile, an unmissable sight was the lack of fans in the arena. A far cry from the packed stadiums that the legend once fought in. In a now-deleted Instagram post (later shared by talkSPORT), 50 Cent shared a picture of the nearly empty arena. He further wrote in the caption, “Damn champ who f*ck this up like this.”

Notably, Eddie Hearn had even previously predicted this scenario. In an interview with Boxing Social, he mentioned, “I don’t know anyone that even knows Floyd Mayweather is fighting on Saturday. Who is putting the money up for these events? Someone has hired out the O2 Arena thinking that they’re gonna sell out.”

Mayweather, on the other hand, stated that the lack of sales was because he had a new team who was still learning the ropes. But why did 50 Cent come out swinging against the legendary boxer?

The Floyd Mayweather 50 Cent fiasco

This post by 50 Cent might have in a way reignited their longstanding beef. But the duo were close friends prior to their bitter spat. Mayweather served a 90-day prison sentence in 2012. And his troubles further increased after his release. 50 Cent accused him of owing him money. Which, in turn, paved the way for a messy back-and-forth.

This also spiraled into a very vocal debacle with both sides releasing videos dissing the other. And with this recent jab from 50 Cent, the feud shows no sign of ending anytime soon.
