The two-time WBC super middleweight champion David Benavidez recently cemented his position on the pedestals of super-middleweight glory. He recently retained his title in a sensational showdown against Caleb Plant. The duo faced off at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada, where Benavidez was declared the winner by decision. Meanwhile, it surely looks like Plant is not too happy about losing to ‘The Mexican Monster’ and even had a special message for Benavidez.

Plant wasted no time in taking jabs at Benavidez on social media. He posted a series of photographs from the fight night to his Instagram account. Moreover, he called him out in the captions and also hinted at avenging his loss. The capi0n of Plant’s latest post reads, “Rumble with whoever. I’ll be back.”

Benavidez, on the other hand,  is undoubtedly on cloud nine after his victory. And even issued a challenge to the undisputed champion, Canelo Alvarez. He called Alvarez out in the post-fight interview saying, “I have a lot of respect for Canelo Alvarez. But he has to give me that shot now. That’s what everybody wants to see in September. I don’t think he’s trying to avoid me. I just believe he has a lot of options.” It surely would be a sight to see what Plant and Benavidez have in store for the future.

Caleb Plant showed appreciation for David Benavidez after the fight

The fight was a rather bloody affair for Plant. He took brutal punishment inside the ring and was left bleeding due to cuts on his cheekbone and eyebrow. In fact, it was reported he had to take a trip to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

At the end of the fight, Plant acknowledged Benavidez’s skills as a boxer saying, “David’s a helluva fighter. It’s a big rivalry. But we got in here and settled it like men. I’ve got in there and I’ve rumbled with the best in the world. I haven’t ducked anybody.”
