The boxing world came to a halt after former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was spotted in a wheelchair at the Miami airport. It was later revealed that the reason for Iron Mike’s weak and frail condition was a sciatica flare-up in his lower back, which left him temporarily paralyzed.
However, it looks like Tyson is now in much better condition as he recently gave an update about his health. In an interview with Piers Morgan, he revealed that he was now training every day, while also watching his diet. “Man, it’s splendid right now. I’ve been training every day. I’ve been working out, I’ve been slightly watching what I’ve been eating. I feel wonderful.” Said Tyson.

This comes as a relief for many fans as this seemed like a serious condition. Moreover, concerns only grew after Tyson revealed that he couldn’t even talk whenever the disease started acting up. “I have sciatica; now and then, it flares up. When it flares up, I can’t even talk! Thank God it’s the only health problem I have.” He said in an interview with NewsMaxTV.

In a full feature interview for his documentary back in 2008, the former heavyweight champ revealed that he should have died a long time ago. He stated that he didn’t expect to live past the age of 40 due to his extreme substance abuse and various physical altercations that could have ended his life. “I’ve lived a wild and a strange life, I’ve used drugs, I’ve had physical altercations with dangerous people… I’ve slept with guys’ wives and they wanted to kill me,” he said.
However, Tyson added that he was happy just to be alive in this world, which was nothing short of a miracle according to him.”I’m just happy to be here. It’s just a miracle.” Tyson added. Iron Mike has faced a lot of hardships in his life but always fought through them, showing unmatched will and perseverance.
