The ‘Geordie Shore’ star, Aaron Chalmers, may have started his fighting career a bit too early, but he’s going strong at 38 years of age. From MMA to boxing, and now, Chalmers is a bare-knuckle fighter who made a triumphant BKFC debut earlier this year in April. This weekend, ‘The Joker’ is back in action against Jack Fincham at BKFC 81, taking place at the AO Arena in Manchester, UK.

When Aaron Chalmers fought Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition fight back in 2023, people were talking about something other than his fighting skills. Fans were quick to notice Chalmers’ tattooed physique. In fact, this myriad of intriguing tattoos forms one of the most striking features of his body. So, ahead of his next fight this weekend, let’s take a deeper look into the meanings behind Chalmers’ inks.

Palm Tattoo: A heartfelt tribute to fatherhood

One of the most meaningful tattoos that Aaron Chalmers has is on his palm. The word ‘ROMEO’ is inscribed on it with a floral design, which, according to the BKFC star, is a tribute to his children and to fatherhood. The palm was, in fact, a very painful place to get tattooed. He famously got the tattoo after his split from his then-girlfriend, with it being a tribute to his son. Moreover, it was made by tattoo master Luke Ashley, who specializes in palm tattoos. For Chalmers, it was worth it because there is nobody more important to him than his three children.

Aaron Chalmers showcased his love for his children to the world when he fought Floyd Mayweather. That’s because he was wearing a yellow gum shield with three hearts representing each of his children. But that night, his son threw his original gum away, prompting him to buy a new one. “New gum shield for the fight cause I’ve got no idea, I’ve lost my other one. My son Maddox has took it out of my bag and put it in the bin,” Chalmers stated in a 2023 interview.

Blackout Tattoos on Neck and Hand: Embracing personal choice

So, one of Aaron Chalmers’ most striking pieces is a blackout tattoo across his neck and hand. It was initially covered in a rather colorful sleeve tattoo before he decided to black it out. Talking about his decision, he said, “Why am I blacking my tattoos out???? Simple. Because it’s my body and I want to! Don’t let it ruin your day,” a couple of years ago during an interview.

In fact, the 38-year-old has mentioned his plans to cover up all the tattoos on his body with the “real work,” as per his own words. Well, the tattoos will be on show this weekend, but do you know that this isn’t even the most painful tattoo he’s ever gotten? There’s one tattoo on the bottom half of Chalmers’ body that caused him the most pain, and he has even talked about it.

Most Painful Tattoo: Behind the knee endurance

So, the long neck and hand tattoo wasn’t the most painful one for Aaron Chalmers. During an interview with Superdrug, the 38-year-old revealed that the most painful tattoo he got was on his knee. The pain continued to torment him as the artist continued to complete the piece of art.

“The most painful tattoo was behind the kneecap. It was even hurting when he drew it on with the pen,” said Aaron Chalmers. He further advised people to take precautionary measures to avoid going through the same process as painfully as he did. He added, “So, if you’re thinking about getting it done, use numbing cream.” But that’s not all, because there’s more. So, let’s take a look at that front.

Other Notable Tattoos: Full body canvas and philosophy

Aaron Chalmers’ arms, chest, back, and shoulders are completely covered with tattoos. As we’ve mentioned, he’s got his arm and hand blacked out, but besides, there are intricate patterns, and he’s also shown a willingness to reimagine them again. Chalmers’ philosophy when it comes to tattoos is a form of personal choice and ownership of his body.

He views tattoos not just as something to decorate someone’s body, but also as a way of life. Well, this Saturday won’t be about tattoos but about his fight. He did well on his debut in the BKFC, but can he do it again? That’s the question we have right now, as we wait to see how the fight pans out at BKFC 81.
