There’s no one in sight for Gervonta Davis, aka Abdul Wahid, to face next! However, a fight against rival Devin Haney came close when Turki Alalshikh offered to host the fight in Saudi Arabia. Alas, that fight never came to be! Even still, ‘Tank’ Davis is unwilling to tolerate any spicy comments on their rivalry, something that became evidently clear in an X interaction between him and a fan!

Devin Haney is about to enter the ring against Davis’ old opponent, Ryan Garcia, on April 20. It’s a fight with all the right ingredients for becoming the fight of the year. However, just a few months ago, a certain clip of Haney and Davis sparring in the Mayweather Gym sparked conversation as to who had the upper hand. Since then, the topic of both of them fighting or anything close has been a sour spot for Davis. So, when a fan made a rather spicy comment on X today, Davis aimed for the fans’ kids in response.

Earlier today, an X user shared a clip of Davin Haney and George Kambosos Jr from their fight! He captioned the clip, “Never forget when Devin Haney styled on George Kambosos so hard he started mumbling to himself.” Seeing this clip of Haney showcasing boxing brilliance, leaving Kambosos staggered, the fan presented a harsh take.

The user wrote, “He would do [Gervonta Davis] the same way.” And this was obviously a mistake, something the user realized when ‘Tank’ decided to respond to the tweet hours later. Annoyed by the comment, Davis wrote back, “I would have him like you and your kids in ya profile pic..dweeb.” It’s worth mentioning that the user had his kids sleeping next to him in the profile picture. Meanwhile, a former world champion suggested other fighters will outgrow Davis.

Some of the obvious contenders are Devin Haney, Shakur Stevenson, and Teofimo Lopez! And Roy Jones Jr. agrees! He goes as far as to suggest that if ‘Tank’ doesn’t fight them now, these fighters will outgrow him.

While speaking to Boxing Scene, Jones Jr. stated, “You want to see him fight Shakur. Yeah, you want to see him fight Haney. Haney is probably going to outgrow him. Shakur ain’t going to be far behind that because [Gervonta Davis] is short, and they’re not.” Jones further added, “So, if he’s going to fight one of them, he better hurry up and do it now because the longer he waits, the more it weighs in their favor.”

One take at a time

The first time boxing captured my attention, it was because of a line I heard in the film 'Rocky Balboa', a film surrounding boxing. The line went like this, "But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.
