Ahead of Mason’s dramatic encounter with Ronal Ron in the ring in April, Bob Arum couldn’t stop praising the young prospect for the things he had done in the ring and will do in the future. In fact, except for his eighth fight against Cesar Villarraga in August 2023 and his fourth fight against Angel Rebollar in August 2022, the Cleveland, Ohio resident has won every fight via a knockout.

So, during an interview with the oldest boxing publication—The Ring Magazine, Arum proudly said, “Abdullah Mason is a tremendous talent… He’s really breathtaking in the ring and we anticipate a lot of years of promoting his fights. He can be a major, major star in boxing.” Despite his tremendous success, however, Arum is following the Top Rank mantra to guide Mason toward success.

Highlighting Mason’s young age, Arum said, “We don’t want to rush him crazily, even though a lot of people say that he could compete with much older guys. There’s no rush with Abdullah.”

Having said that, it looks like it’s finally time for Mason to show what he can do as he locks horns with much older 31-year-old Luis Lebron in the coming weekend. The only way to leave a mark would be to score a knockout win, something fans in the audience and at home are looking forward to. Do you think Abdullah Mason can do it again in his TV debut?
