Boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez recently came off a stunning victory against Gennady Golovkin. This finally ended their rivalry, which has been going on for years. However, the Mexican boxer revealed that he will be taking a break from the sport due to an injury he suffered during his fight with Caleb Plant. But recent news has made fans go wild as it revealed the return of Alvarez to the squared circle.

Canelo Alvarez had not lost a fight since 2013, when he was defeated by Hall of Famer Floyd Mayweather. He is the current face of boxing, and fans enjoy watching Saul Alvarez knock out opponents within the squared circle. However, one of the biggest upsets in the history of boxing occurred in May 2022, when Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol defeated the Mexican boxer.

Fans were incredibly disappointed to see their favorite boxer lose, and it was obvious that a rematch was required. Even the two competitors concurred on a probable rematch. However, after Alvarez’s most recent victory over Gennady Golovkin in their much-awaited trilogy bout, the latter disclosed that he is taking a break from boxing due to a hand injury.

However, Michael Benson revealed on Twitter, “Canelo Alvarez has confirmed that he expects to return in May following successful wrist surgery and said he will “look for revenge” in a rematch with Dmitry Bivol.”

The Mexican boxer has reportedly made a full recovery from wrist surgery and is ready to fight Bivol again inside the ring. However, there are divergent views among fans as to whether or not the battle should take place.

Bivol suddenly rose to fame as he defeated Alvarez inside the squared circle. In addition, he extended his record to 21-0 as he defeated Gilberto Ramirez.
