Adrien Broner hopes to make his way to the pinnacle of boxing yet again. After his win against Bill Hutchinson, he’s trying to look for a title fight. Broner’s boxing career has been full of ups and downs since his debut in 2008. The 4-division champion won his first title in 2011 at flyweight, and with time, he kept on moving up the weight classes and acquiring belts. But his rhythm got distorted after his defeat against the Filipino legend, Manny Pacquiao. He took his first break after that fight.

But no matter how many times Broner may get struck with hardships, he always finds his way back to boxing.  Hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio. Broner never forgot his roots, and recently he showed remorse for an influential woman back in his hometown.

The first woman who became Golden Gloves Hall-of-Famer in 1990, Martha Smith passed away at the age of 90 years old. ‘Miss Marty’ was a well-known name to the boxers in Cincinnati, Ohio. Smith was a splendid licensed boxing judge who worked at the Emmanuel Community Center, and she’s popular in town for resurrecting Cincinnati Golden Gloves alongside Rollie Schwartz and Buddy Larosa. Well, her news of passing has saddened a lot of people from his hometown.

Even Adrien Broner shared his grief on Instagram Story. Although there are no records of Broner ever winning a Golden Glove, it seems he definitely knew Martha Smith personally. In his story, above her picture, he wrote, “R.I.P miss Marty I love you forever ❤️“.

Although any connection between Broner and Martha Smith could not be elaborated upon due to lack of reportage, the latter seemed to have a profound effect on the former lightweight champion.

Meanwhile, there have been various occasions where Broner has talked about the hardships that plague Cincinnati residents. Smith. Although the love for your hometown never fades away, once Broner used the word ‘treacherous’ to describe Cincinnati.

So during his break after the ‘PacMan’ fight, Broner appeared for an interview on VLADTV, where he talked about how was it, growing up in Cincinnati. Broner at first, found himself to be at a loss of words, as he couldn’t find a way to explain the kind of town it was. He stated that it’s a different place than a lot of cities.

And then he said, “Treacherous man, and growing up here I had to adapt to everything I was around.” Then he also talked about when he was charged with a case of 57 years sentence, but Broner fought against the allegations for a whole year. He found his way out of all the purported claims.
