Floyd Mayweather Jr is one of the most celebrated boxers in the world. The former five-division world champion has cemented his legacy as one of the greatest boxers ever to tighten their gloves. One thing that should be observed about his thrilling performances inside the ring is that he had an impregnable defense. And, it is safe to say that in his professional career, not many boxers could cause him serious damage. And he raised the bar for defensive play in the sport. But, there was one boxer who was able to get at Mayweather Jr. and challenge his defense.

A former Olympic medalist recently shared an anecdote about the former five-division champion. And told the story of when Mayweather fought a boxing legend. After fighting the legend, Mayweather Jr made some bold claims about him.

Olympic Bronze medalist Nate Jones recently took to his YouTube to share the story of a sparring session between Floyd Mayweather Jr and boxing legend Parnell Whittaker. Jones further shared Mayweather Jr’s remarks with the late boxing sensation after his sparring sensation.

Jones quoted Mayweather, saying, “Man, Nate, that man has the best body I’ve been in the ring with. His IQ is so dominating.” Jones further shared that Mayweather Jr, though highly of Whittaker, was impressed by him as a fellow boxer.

Mayweather Jr has sparred with numerous boxers in his professional career. But it seems like Whittaker made a strong impression on the champ. It should be noted that Mayweather Jr is forbidden from sparring with his head coach.

Floyd Mayweather Jr is regarded as one of the best boxers in the world. And when someone like Mayweather Jr says he experienced the best body punch from Whittaker, One has to believe it.

Who was Parnell Whittaker?

Parnell Whittaker Sr was a professional boxer who competed from 1982 to 2001. He was considered one of the most famous boxers of his time. And after his retirement, he became a boxing trainer. Even though he did not win a title in his professional career, that does not reflect his capabilities and skills as a pro boxer.

His professional boxing record stands at 40-4-1. Unfortunately, the boxing sensation died at 55 in 2019 after being hit by a pickup truck. He is still regarded as one of the most versatile boxers who ever lived.
