Two-division world champion, Jermall Charlo, and his younger identical twin brother, undisputed light-middleweight champion, Jermell Charlo, have cemented the fact that the sport of boxing is ingrained in the ‘Charlo DNA’. Moreover, their powerful performances inside the ring have also led to many fighters turning their gaze toward a potential fight with the Charlo brothers. In fact, it looks like they might have also caught the attention of boxing legend, Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The Charlo twins were recently guests on the 13th episode of the I AM ATHLETE podcast. It is also worth mentioning that the episode was hosted by former NFL stars, Brandon Marshall and DeSean Jackson.

In conversation, Jermall opened up about the time Mayweather asked them for a fight. He said, “Me and Floyd hanging out in Vegas, right? And, we’re in Vegas, we’re hanging out and roses, you with Floyd, you know the OG. So you know, G hanging out, he was like, ‘Hey Bro. Which one of y’all want to fight me?'”

Charlo, however, was taken aback by Mayweather’s call out. He responded, by saying. “I was like, bro. I’m kinda locked up, I’m kinda locked up. Or we was like, man it was crazy. Because like, nah man, like I ain’t in your weight division no more. Like I weigh 160, that was bro (POINTS AT JERMELL). He always wanted to fight Floyd. But, that’s why he’s undisputed.” Meanwhile, in the very same episode, the younger Charlo brother took a dig at Mayweather. He even mentioned that he was the only fighter who could beat Mayweather Jr.

Floyd Mayweather was not the only one who called out Jermall Charlo

Charlo might have been taken aback by Mayweather calling him out. However, he has no dearth of fighters wishing to have him as an opponent. In fact, he was called out by former junior middleweight champion Jaime Munguia for a 2023 showdown.

Moreover, he also made it a point to remind Charlo that he has been out of the ring for almost two years.
