After Sparring Both, Floyd Mayweather’s Protégé Outlines Big Difference Between Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson Before Devin Haney Gets Roped In

Floyd Mayweather is a force of nature, likes of which are rare in the sport of boxing. Ever since his retirement, the boxing world has been waiting for the next Floyd. And the wait might be finally over – as Mayweather himself has stated, he sees himself in the young boxer. The name is Curmel Moton! Abilities are speed, counter-punching, and a whole lot of adaptability. The young and promising boxer has not made his professional debut yet. But Moton has sparred against the likes of Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson. And the same topic came up during an interview, where Moton described the difference between the two fighters.

Mayweather can’t seem to stop producing great boxers. First, it was Davis, then Shakur, and the latest addition is Moton. But who is the best fighter among them? How did Devin Haney come into the conversation? In an interview with AKHi TV, Moton revealed it all.

During the interview, Curmel describes the two fighters as being on opposite sides of the spectrum with totally different styles. While describing Shakur, he said, He takes his time, but he is like in your face putting his rangefinder out there.” And when it came to Tank, Curmel explained, “Tank…he more…he moves around…and he waits and then explodes with shots. He likes to fight in spurts.”

Curmel goes on to explain that experiencing such diverse boxing styles helps him get better at the sport.

Later in the interview, the conversation shifted towards who would come out on top. Davis, Shakur or Davin Haney. Though Curmel was hesitant, he decisively answered by saying, I would have to say it’s between Tank and Shakur.”

He described that in the end, they will defeat all of their opponents, and only the two of them will remain.

Mayweather Challenges Leigh Wood for a fight against Curmel Moton

With high praise from Mayweather himself, Curmel is all set to make his professional debut. But is he ready for the 35-year-old Wood? Mayweather seems to think so! Moton has won 18 amateur titles, and Mayweather thinks Leigh Wood would be the perfect first fight for Moton. However, Wood doesn’t seem to share the same opinion. Wood wrote back to Mayweather via tweet, suggesting a fight between him and Mayweather.

Wood is a two-time world Featherweight champion. He defended his featherweight title against Mauricio Lara in his last fight. What’s more, his upcoming fight is against Josh Warrington on 7 October, yet again with his title on the line. If somehow, or the other, he agrees to the fight against the 17-year-old Curmel, it would take place after Josh.
