As Evan geared up for a scheduled bout on August 4, 2023, he began experiencing symptoms such as shortness of breath, vomiting, and chest pain. Initially, as many young athletes might, he dismissed it as a minor issue and attempted to move on. However, without success. After multiple hospital visits and several medical assessments, doctors revealed he had an exceptionally rare heart condition, which shocked everyone. This condition had progressed over the years unbeknownst to him and affected his energy level, stamina, and oxygen levels. Additionally, this caused chest pain, shortness of breath, or sudden cardiac failure. Medical professionals determined that an open-heart surgery was imperative.
