Will His Excellency Turki Alalshikh be interested in arranging an exhibition fight between two retired boxers? The adviser to the Royal Court is currently the most sought-after matchmaker in boxing. The man behind events such as ‘Ring of Fire’ and ‘5 vs 5: Queensberry vs Matchroom’ is interested in giving the fans the matchups they want at a “fair price”. So far, he has been busy arranging matchups between elite boxers who are active. But, will Alalshikh step in to act as the mediator between two almost-retired boxers?

Reportedly, former unified light-welterweight champion Amir Khan is secretly having talks with Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao‘s team for a fight. Khan retired in 2022 after losing a grudge match against Kell Brook. After that, he served a two-year ban for consuming the banned substance ostarine ahead of his fight against Brook. Meanwhile, Pacquiao, 45, retired after suffering a loss against Yordenis Ugas in 2021 to focus on his presidential campaign in the Philippines. However, the eight-division champion failed in his efforts and is back trading fists in the exhibition circuit.

“Manny looked s*** in his last fight, really bad. Manny won’t want to fight me, and I like him,” Khan told Action Network. To provide context, Manny fought kickboxing champion Rukiya Anpo in Japan for over three rounds in his last exhibition fight and looked very underwhelming. Nevertheless, the British boxer stated that Pacquiao was looking for a “big pay cheque from Saudi” to be lured into a fight with him. On that note, he urged Turki Alalshikh to make the fight happen. Only man who can make this happen Is the one and only @Turki_alalshikh,” he wrote while sharing a Sun article about their secret fight talks.

Amir Khan had already expressed reservations about the fight actually happening, being familiar with the cold hard truth. “It’s going to be hard because obviously Saudi and Turki Alalshikh will never do an exhibition fight.”

Although both boxers were in the same weight class during their prime years in boxing, Khan and Pacquiao never squared off in the squared circle. But they were sparring partners for a time. Now, it remains to be seen if the current chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia will make this matchup happen.

On the other hand, Amir Khan also addressed the talks about him fighting the British Youtuber KSI. Is the matchup with the internet sensation still on the cards for the retired boxer?

It’s either one of the two boxing legends or none!

Khan has made it clear that he will only be tempted to enter the ring again if it adds to his boxing legacy. Therefore, he has ruled out a fight with social media influencer KSI, and will only do fight camps for Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather. “To motivate myself it would only have to be Manny or Floyd Mayweather. Other than that, no, I’m not interested at all. I won’t fight KSI,” he stated in an interview with a media outlet.

Furthermore, he has also stated that the fight needs to happen in twelve months, otherwise, he won’t be fighting at all. “If it happens and I’m ever going to consider doing an exhibition, then it will have to be in the next 12 months otherwise I am done from the sport. I’m 90 per cent done from the sport anyways, I don’t have the love for boxing anymore,” he added.
