Former world champion Amir Khan announced his retirement back in May. The British boxer’s career ended with a 40-fight record of 34 wins and six defeats following his battle with long-term rival Kell Brook in Manchester in February. Khan revealed that he retired from the sport because he lost his love for the sport.

However, just a few months into retirement, it looks like the former champ might be interested in a comeback. However, there is only one man he is interested in facing. In an interview with Intu Boxing, Khan revealed that while he is enjoying retirement, the prospect of an exhibition bout with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather would certainly make his ‘hunger’ for boxing come back.

I’ve always said since my last fight I want to take a full twelve months off. I don’t think I have that hunger in me, but maybe in a year’s time that might come back. If it’s a massive name, like a Floyd Mayweather, then the hunger will definitely come back.” He said.

Khan and Mayweather were touted to be two of the best boxers of their generation. Moreover, the two were also close to meeting in a professional match. However, Mayweather pulled the plug at the last minute, because Khan announced the fight before him.

The two were the best boxers on the planet during the time and Khan has stated on multiple occasions that he regrets not fighting ‘Money’ in his prime.

Amir Khan backs Tyson Fury amid backlash

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury recently came under a lot of fire for choosing Derek Chisora as his next opponent. This will be the third time the two face off in the ring. However, fans are convinced that this fight was unnecessary due to Fury beating Del Boy in their first two fights. Despite this, Khan defended Fury in an interview with Boxing social, claiming that Fury has achieved heights not matched by any other British heavyweight.

But what he [Fury] has done in the sport of boxing, I don’t think we’ve had a British heavyweight champion who’s done what he’s done. So credit to Tyson, even if he called it a day today, I think we’d all be very happy with his career. He’s had an enormous and a magnificent career.” said Khan.
