

Jessica McCaskill is still the undisputed welterweight champion of the world. The American boxer backed up her words and defended her belts against Cecilia Braekhus. After 10-rounds of exciting boxing, the fight went to the scorecards and McCaskill won a 100-89, 99-90, 98-91 unanimous decision.

The duo who have a history between them, boxed in a rematch on the undercard of the Juan Francisco Estrada vs. Roman Gonzalez event. In the first meeting, McCaskill shocked Braekhus and the world by beating her via a majority decision.
How did the fight between Jessica McCaskill vs. Cecilia Braekhus pan out?
McCaskill promised to make the Norwegian eat her words in the fight. And the American showed that with her approach in the early rounds. Both fighters started in fifth gear, going at each other. This resulted in an exciting start to the fight.
Despite the close early rounds, McCaskill had the slight advantage since she was the one walking down Braekhus. As the fight progressed past the fifth round, both fighters dropped the pace. However, it was still a closely fought contest.

After a lot of clinching, the referee warned Braekhus for holding McCaskill by the neck. Later, in round seven, the referee deducted a point from the Norwegian for the same offense. This proved costly for Braekhus as she ended up losing on points.

How did the exciting fight end?
 By the penultimate round, McCaskill had accumulated enough rounds to win the fight, especially after the point deduction for Braekhus. As a result, the last two rounds were slightly more subdued with both fighters clinching. However, they still landed a few body shots at each other.
Despite their best efforts, neither fighter could get the knockout. As a result, the fight went to the judges’ scorecards. McCaskill reaped the rewards of her early rounds and got the unanimous decision victory.

All in all, it was a fantastic display by the champion on the night. She set out to prove a point, and that’s exactly what she did in the ring. Although she didn’t get the knockout, McCaskill left no doubt this time by winning a unanimous decision.
