IBF champion Caleb Plant is being looked at as the underdog against Canelo Alvarez for their November 6 fight. Despite being undefeated, Plant doesn’t have many believers on his side. However, former world champion Andre Ward is preparing ‘Sweethands’. That said, he appears to have decoded the way that he can help Caleb Plant overpower Alvarez inside the ring.

32-0 as a pro, Ward was regarded as an antidote to Alvarez’s prowess for a long time. However, the fantasy fight never happened. Nevertheless, he can seek to pass on his expertise to Caleb Plant. “So, I think it’s a mixture of everything. And Caleb Plant understands that. He is a high IQ fighter. So you may have your bread and butter like ‘Hey Ima box’. But I have never really seen it work when you have a pure boxer.”

Given his comments, it’s clear that he has advised his pupil to not get awed by his opponent and take the fight to him.

Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb Plant – The Title War

If Plant’s undefeated status is something that his loyalists are relying on, then Canelo Alvarez has vanquished two unbeaten world champions in December and May. On his entry into the 168 lbs division, Alvarez vanquished an unbeaten Callum Smith to grab the WBC, WBA, and Ring super-middleweight titles in December. Following the win, he defended the belts against Avni Yildirim in February, before beating Billy Joe Saunders in May for the WBO title.
