Former unified world heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. created history as he defeated Anthony Joshua in 2019 and became the first Mexican man to become the world heavyweight champion. Although Joshua won the fight and reclaimed his titles, the Mexican unquestionably proved his mettle to the world. Recently, Andy opened up about Anthony Joshua’s next fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

Andy Ruiz Jr was asked about his prediction on the Joshua vs Usyk fight in an interview. He replied, “The fastest thing that I could say if Usyk doesn’t do the same thing that I did, then he’s gonna win the fight man. Because I have all the tools to beat Anthony Joshua, but things happened so fast, I was here, I was over there, I did not focus really on what I was supposed to do. But Usyk is different, you know. He’s ready, he’s more disciplined, he’s already been world champion before, he’s already been super-famous. But, you know, it’s gonna be a tough fight for both of them.”

The Mexican boxer believes that Usyk would prevail in the fight if he refrains from acting in the same way as he did against AJ. He also praised the Ukrainian fighter’s discipline, prior to his championship win, and immense fame. The anticipated sequel to the September 2021 fight is set to happen on August 20 in Saudi Arabia.

While talking to ESNEWS, he stated, “I’m on a mission. I want to get that green belt. That’s the belt that I’m missing. So I don’t know what’s going to happen or whether Tyson Fury is going to vacate the belt. I don’t know who is going to be the person to try to win that belt, but that’s my mission now. After I get that, I can retire.”
