Andy Ruiz Jr. Reveals Why the Deontay Wilder Fight Might Never Happen

Former Heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. is ready to enter the squared circle once again after a year of absence against Cuban boxer Luis Ortiz on September 4 at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles.

Moreover, this fight could be a stepping stone for both contenders who will look to win this fight to get a shot at heavyweight gold. However, it looks like Ruiz has also explored some other options if he does not get a shot at the championship, as he addressed a possible fight with Deontay Wilder.

In an interview with Fight Hub Tv, Ruiz was asked what his plans for the future were after his fight with Ortiz and asked the former heavyweight champion about a fight with Wilder.

If you win that fight( Ortiz) do you want the world title next or maybe if you can’t get that? Deontay Wilder, he might come back, but he hasn’t made up his mind yet. That will be massive, man, you and Wilder.” The reporter asked Ruiz.

Ruiz then responded, stating that he would love to fight against The Bronze Bomber but wasn’t so sure if he would come out of retirement.”I want to fight Wilder if he comes out of retirement. He’s kind of when you’re interviewing. He kinda didn’t want to.” Ruiz told the reporter. He also added that Wilder made money outside the boxing ring, so there is no reason for him to come back.” He makes more money outside the ring than inside of the ring. That kinda shows that he really doesn’t want to, you know.” ‘He added.

Moreover, he also stated that he doesn’t blame Wilder for not returning and even praised The Bronze Bomber for his hard work and dedication.”I don’t blame him. All the hard work and dedication he did over the years. He accomplished a lot for so many years, you know. I can’t blame him. He wants to enjoy life without getting hurt or punched in the face. He already did. We all work hard so we don’t have to work harder than life you know. I’m glad he did all that hard work.” said Ruiz.
