The boxing fraternity expected a fight between the two British heavyweights, Tyson Fury, and Anthony Joshua. But the retirement of Fury led to the upset of fans’ expectations. Now, the former heavyweight champion, Frank Bruno, mends his views on this anticipated clash.

In a recent interview with iFL TV, the interviewer asked Bruno about his views on the probability of Fury vs. Joshua. 

Bruno said, “It’s a big fight. And both of them, Tyson, put a lot verbally on the table and Anthony Joshua, he hasn’t got the cheque at the moment. So he’s desperate, and he wants to get some belts back and he wasn’t beaten. But I think he’s got more chance of winning in the next Olympics than he has beating Tyson Fury.”

Bruno described how both the fighters made a hype of their fight before Joshua lost his fight. He also narrated how the chances of Joshua defeating Fury is less.

The boxers created a heavy buzz amongst their fans, which made the fans anticipate a lot for this fight. Unexpectedly, the probability of the fight decreased as Joshua went through losses, which made it tough to challenge ‘The Gypsy King‘ for the fight.

When Anthony Joshua made his fans upset

Anthony Joshua reigned as the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion until the then underdog, Andy Ruiz Jr; defeated him. ‘The Destroyer’ knocked out Joshua in the 7th round of the fight, which shocked the boxing fraternity.

However, Joshua won in their rematch, reclaiming all the titles he lost to Ruiz, but his loss wasn’t forgettable for the fans.

His second upset came against the Ukrainian heavyweight, Oleksandr Usyk, in 2021. Usyk defeated Joshua via a decision and snatched away all his titles.

Anthony Joshua is looking forward to gaining what he lost against ‘The Cat’ in their upcoming rematch. But the losses decreased the charm of Joshua in the heavyweight division. As a result, the boxing fraternity didn’t have the same level of excitement about his fight against Fury that they had earlier.

Well, Fury’s retirement from the sport has also decreased the chances more for the fight, which is why Bruno claimed Joshua has a better chance of winning the next Olympics than he has of beating Fury.
