Anthony Joshua, the former unified heavyweight champion, was at the top of his career before meeting the likes of Oleksandr Usyk the previous year. He was expecting nothing short of an easy challenge from the Ukrainian, who was smaller in size and was moving up in weight class to earn a title.

His eyes were set on taking over the biggest rival of his career, Tyson Fury, for the undisputed heavyweight championship by defending his title with comfort against the former undisputed cruiserweight champion.

But it did not work out as he had expected. His relaxation and carelessness cost him more than his belts. He suffered a humiliating loss in the first matchup. ‘Cat’ classed him as if he was an underdog and won the fight by decision.

Though it was not his first loss, it came as a calamity. It trembled Joshua’s life in and outside the ring. First time in his career, he noticed things that he had never paid attention to. He fired his team, including the longtime trainer. According to him, his team played a vital role in his loss and went under the wings of a new trainer, Robert Garcia, to avenge the loss.

Things did not change much. He again met Usyk in a rematch in Saudi Arabia earlier this year but could not regain his title. However, his performance was far better than the previous collision.

Now the question is when would AJ begin his quest to become a three-time heavyweight champion again?

In a recent show on DAZN, Joshua appeared. Following his loss, AJ talked for the first time about his future in boxing. Though he made it certain that he would come inside the ring next year, he has a lot to overcome before doing this.

“I don’t know. I’m supposed to be in the ring next year. I will get in the ring next year. I will be in the when I’m in the ring. I don’t wanna make any statements today and then hold to be crossed by so I will be back yeah not easier. I’m not a champion and it’s hurting a lot so I’m in the gym rebuilding and restructuring everything that to do inside and outside the ring.”

Joshua continued, “There’s a lot going on outside the ring in my life that makes my ring life complicated so I need to simplify stuff outside the ring and just come up with full attention and put my full attention. I want that done. Next year I will be ready.”
