Jason Gavern might be the heavyweight gate-keeper that has paved path to several world champions. However, he is still a true veteran of the sport, who has been thoroughly active throughout. All the modern-day champions had to go through Gavern as they grabbed their respective belts. That said, the 43-year-old has recently compared Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder, and Anthony Joshua in terms of their skills and dominance.

Apart from facing them inside the ring, Gavern has also trained with several world champions. It is no surprise that he knows the sport like the back of his yard.

Thus, it makes sense when he claims Tyson Fury as the best amongst the trio.

Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua on Gavern’s scale

The American heavyweight has recently told Sky Sports that. Sparring with Tyson Fury was tougher than facing Joshua and Wilder. Quite a bold statement to make.

Well, Joshua and Wilder have both knocked out Gavern. But the Harrisonburg native had accepted these fights under a notice of five days and four days, respectively.

Talking about it, he said, “Joshua is more technical than Wilder. Look at their records – he doesn’t have the same knockout stats that Wilder does.”

“He didn’t hurt me with the first couple of knock-downs, they were just flash knock-downs. But the last knock-down? He hurt me. Even when I went back to the locker room, I was still wobbly.

“I was never hurt against Wilder.”

Yet, while recalling a sparring session with Fury, Gavern has expressed all his love and respect for the Briton.  He added, “He was amazing. It was crazy how good Tyson was, and this was six years ago. I sparred with Fury in Bolton for 10 days.”

‘The Sensation’ further said that he has never wanted to be a journeyman. However, the sport of boxing is lethal and Gavern wasn’t fortunate enough to stage an impressive record.

Despite that, he has been one of the most active men, accepting fights under brief notices.

He is a commendable heavyweight who will always be remembered for his activeness and sheer experience.
