Unified heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, has hit out at Daniel Dubois’ critics. The British champion showed his dismay at the unreasonable criticism that ‘The Dynamite’ received for fight against Joe Joyce. Daniel Dubois didn’t get up after being knocked down by Joyce, which resulted in a TKO victory to the ‘Juggernaut’. This did not go down well with competitors and fans and many labeled the 23-year-old a quitter.

However, Anthony Joshua believes this is utterly unreasonable. Speaking to The Sun, Joshua said, “If Daniel needs someone to speak to, he should call me. It is easy for people to criticize from outside the ring — but some people have been out of order.” Maybe referring to the likes of Dillian Whyte and David Haye, who called the young heavyweight a quitter.

Joshua also explains why people should refrain from calling him a quitter. He said, “Daniel took a massive risk in taking that fight, as did Joe Joyce. They both knew the dangers, and they both put it all on the line.” The champion compared it to MMA and asked for people to respect Dubois. “I hear people talking respectfully about tapping out in MMA fights. Then when a boxer stops because his eyeball is about to fall out, they call him a ‘quitter’ — are they serious?” Said Joshua.

Why were critics so eager to have a go at Daniel Dubois?

And despite being very talented, critics were skeptical whether he had the maturity to get the victory. So in some way, Dubois brought this on himself with the constant comments prior to the fight.

However, his eye was swollen to the point where he could no longer see from it and there was no option but to stay down. It was either that, or walk towards a powerful Joe Joyce with one eye. He is still young and could live up to the hype. However, for now, his journey will have to take a detour.
