On September 25, Anthony Joshua faced the second loss of his career against Oleksandr Usyk. Following his defeat a few weeks back, the Englishman has already triggered the rematch with the Ukrainian champion. It does not seem like Joshua is messing around now as he was recently also spotted at a gym in San Diego where boxing’s p4p king trains.

The former undisputed cruiserweight champion presented challenges that Anthony Joshua had never seen or faced against other conventional heavyweights.

Before the two even stepped into the ring, most fight analysts knew that Usyk’s in-ring movement and defense could be a real problem for Joshua.

Naturally, most also assumed that AJ would make necessary adjustments to dance toe-to-toe with Usyk inside the ring. However, that clearly did not happen; Usyk outboxed him and he failed to capitalize on his height, size, and reach advantage.

After his loss to Usyk, many suggested that Anthony Joshua should move on from trainer Rob McCracken. Fans expressed that he should switch over to someone else who can equip him with a smarter game plan.

It was obvious from Joshua’s performance on that night that he needs to switch things up a bit.

Is Anthony Joshua doing anything to improve his approach for the Oleksandr Usyk rematch?

Matchroom top boss Eddie Hearn recently announced that Anthony Joshua has now triggered the rematch clause in his contract. On the other hand, Usyk said right after his win on Sep 25 that he would like to run it back with AJ next.

He claimed that AJ is now back in the gym. Hearn is now looking forward to becoming a three-time heavyweight world champion in the spring of next year.

He’s got his head back in the game, he’s training, now we’ve officially triggered the rematch for the Oleksandr Usyk which we’ll see early next spring. Back in the game and looking for him to become a three-time heavyweight world champion,” said Eddie Hearn.

It seems Anthony Joshua is already focused on making the right adjustments; he is now clearly taking huge steps to decipher and counter Usyk’s game plan in their rematch next year.

Anthony Joshua was recently spotted and pictured at Canelo Alvarez and Eddy Reynoso’s gym in San Diego. Moreover, recent social media posts prove that Eddie Hearn was also there in the gym with Canelo and Reynoso on Saturday.

The English promoter was there to pay Canelo a visit ahead of his undisputed showdown with Caleb Plant on November 6.

Could this be the beginning of a new partnership between Canelo’s team and Joshua? Do you think training with Reynoso could help AJ turn his game around?
