In a couple of hours, the former light heavyweight title contender Anthony Yarde will compete against Dec Spelman in a 10-round contest. The event takes place behind closed doors at BT Sport’s studios in Stratford, London. Despite no fans being present at the event, the excitement for this bout will be no less.

Yarde (19-1, 18 KOs) is a solid knockout artist and has finished all his bout but one. His last fight was a quick destruction of Diego Jair Ramirez in February. Going into this bout Yarde is looking to make a statement by dominating his opponent and getting back in title contention once again after losing his last title bout to Sergey Kovalev.

In a recent interview, Yarde said, “The people want explosive action and knockouts so I will not be hiding behind my jab and sending everyone to sleep,” commented Yarde on the bout.

“This will be all about me reminding people that I am the force of the division and I am heading right back to the top where I intend to dominate and reign for a long time to come.

“I respect Dec Spelman as a fighter but this is the chance for me to show everyone what they can expect when I get to share a ring with Lyndon Arthur.”

Dec Spelman (16-4, 8 KOs), despite losing his last two bouts, is as tough an opponent as they come. He has yet to be stopped inside the ring and will look to pull off the upset against Yarde.

Speaking of the bout, he said, “If Yarde comes to fight, then so much the better for me.

“Lyndon [Arthur] made our fight a technical affair that I was disappointed I couldn’t really get to grips with, so if Yarde wants some action then bring it on.

“I will actually be his first test at domestic level so we will see how he looks on the night.”

Well, it seems by their statements that none of the fighters will take a back step during this bout. And while Yarde will clearly be the favorite going in, it will be foolish to count Spelman out just yet. Whether “The Beast From The East” displays his power once again and becomes the first fighter to stop Spelman, or will the latter’s grit shine through, we’ll find out shortly.
