Artur Beterbiev Obtains Nasty Badou Jack Like Cut From Opponent Marcus Browne

Artur Beterbiev took on Marcus Browne On Saturday. The unbeaten light-welterweight champion put his 100% KO record on the line against a feisty opponent. Browne looked to give Beterbiev the first loss of his career.

Ever since turning pro, the Russian has caused havoc in the ring. His punching power and tenacity in the ring are second to none. Artur Beterbiev is as tough as it gets. He has an iron chin, and he walks down to his opponents, absorbing every shot.

On Saturday, he proved once again why he is one of the toughest fighters. In the fourth round of the fight, an accidental headbutt opened up a terrible gash on his forehead that bled profusely for the rest of the fight.

Normally, such cuts disturb the fighter as they find it a lot harder to focus. However, the cut transformed an annoyed Artur Beterbiev into a fighting beast. He mercilessly went after his opponent. For the next 5 rounds, Beterbiev put the pressure on.

Then in the ninth round of the fight, Beterbiev’s relentless pressure bore fruit as he caught Browne with a good combo, forcing him into the ropes and dishing out more punishment. The American could not hold longer to his fiery jabs.

He went down on one knee, completely gassed out, until the referee finished the countdown.

This win means Beterbiev keeps his 100% KO record and an unbeaten record intact. Now, he will embark on to bigger challenges ahead.

Badou Jack suffered a similar cut back in 2019

This isn’t the first time Marcus Browne caused such a nasty cut from an accidental headbutt. In a throwback to January 2019, a 35-year-old Badou Jack took on Marcus Browne on the undercard of the Adrien Broner vs Manny Pacquiao fight. Jack had started strongly until the 7th round when Browne head-butted him.

A gnarly gash cut open right in the middle of his forehead, which kept bleeding profusely for the entire duration of their fight. An injured Jack couldn’t keep up inside the ring and lost his focus.

The fight went the distance and all three judges scored the bout in favor of Marcus Browne, handing Jack the second loss of his career.
