WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis is slated to tackle WBA super featherweight champion Lamont Roach on March 1st in Brooklyn, New York. However, the Baltimore native has become the talk of the town for a whole different reason. Most of you might have seen Davis’ new look trending on social media, with long, lush hair—that’s the one!

Fans were stunned to see Davis’ new avatar just the other day, and the prevailing public opinion didn’t seem to land in favor of the look. Davis himself addressed the situation in a cryptic message on X, hinting that he did not want it to go public. “I’m a lowkey type of guy..this being in [the] public eye be killing me[,] fam,” he wrote.

“I’m not chasing no image at all nor a female I be gucci away from this s**t,” he added. This comes after Davis had announced his retirement from boxing after 2025. He also claimed the Roach fight was canceled, but Davis seems to have returned to training and the fight is back on the table. Regardless, just a day after revealing his new look, he seems to be hiding it!

Earlier today, the 30-year-old puncher took to his Instagram story to share a gym selfie, sporting a beanie that appeared to conceal his long flowing locks—one that recently drew significant trolling on social media. In the meantime, someone has named the boxer Gervonta Davis said he would never enter the ring opposite.

Gervonta Davis’ private claim leaked

Rising lightweight star Floyd Schofield’s father and trainer, Schofield Sr., has stirred controversy by claiming Gervonta Davis privately vowed never to fight his son. “Gervonta said, ‘I would never get in the ring with that guy,’” Schofield Sr. told talkSPORT. Schofield Jr. is about to face off against Shakur Stevenson on February 22 in Riyadh.

The 22-year-old has sparred with the likes of Devin Haney, Shawn Porter, and even Shakur himself. He was also in Davis’ camp previously but never shared a ring with him. Regardless, Schofield Sr. said, “And two years ago I told the world that when Floyd gets up to that level where he’s a mandatory to Gervonta, Gervonta will retire.”

“And that’s exactly the same thing that is happening right now because anybody that has seen Floyd, the only one that has stepped up to the plate is Shakur,” he added. “He buckled Devin Haney [in sparring] and Devin ran up two weight classes to get away from him.” Schofield Sr. even roped in Jojo Diaz, stating, “Jojo Diaz made excuses to get away from him. You’re all going to see something.”

That being said, Gervonta Davis is not having the best time since his new hairstyle became public knowledge. Whether the hair sticks is yet to be seen, as the champion from Baltimore gets ready to defend his title against Roach. What do you think about his hair?
