Mike Tyson has held several records in the sport’s history and some of them are too hard to be broken. He dethroned Muhammad Ali as the youngest heavyweight champion, back in 1986, by knocking out Trevor Berbick for the world championship. Tyson became a champion at the age of 20 and the feat is still unmatched.

However, a few of Tyson’s statistics emerged from controversies, one of which was his $3 million fine for biting Evander Holyfield’s ear in 1997. Frequently dubbed as ‘The Bite Fight’, Tyson vs Holyfield 2 was an event that is cemented forever in the boxing dynamics. Tyson lost his WBA heavyweight gold to Evander Holyfield back in 1996, which was the second defeat of his pro career. Just after eight months, they ran it back on the MGM Grand Arena on June 28, 1997. Following a heated build-up, Mike Tyson came up with all the aggression and had no intentions to let Holyfield take control.

However, ‘The Real Deal’ dominated the first three rounds against ‘Iron’ Mike. It apparently vexed Tyson as he locked his opponent in a clinch and bit him in the ear. Tyson was warned of his actions. However, he didn’t bother and bit Holyfield once again. He tore a piece of his rival’s ear and the fight was called off instantly.
