Months of back-and-forth ended this weekend after Devin Haney emerged as the hero of the undisputed showdown. He became the youngest four-belt champion in the sport’s history. Haney traveled all the way to Australia to disappoint the confident, unified WBC, IBF, and WBO lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr, in a spectacular competitive slugfest.

Such a vast win earned a lot of praise for ‘The Dreamer’. Also, top-notch names in boxing reacted to his phenomenal performance. Top Ranks’ Bob Arum, impressed by Haney’s performance, announced another big fight for the 23-year-old.

According to Michael Benson of talkSPORT, Arum wanted to materialize a clash between his star lightweight Vasyl Lomachenko and Haney.

Benson wrote, “Bob Arum has declared that he’d like to make Devin Haney vs Vasyl Lomachenko for Haney’s undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF & WBO lightweight world titles.”

Notably, when Haney and Kambosos were en route to finalize their battle, the name of the two-time Olympic Gold medalist Lomachenko was also surfacing. He was keen on bringing fight on Kambosos in Australia. However, he could not get the opportunity.

But as of now, his promoter Arum has resolved the whole situation. He has announced that he wanted to produce a matchup between Haney and Loma to give an opportunity to his fighter to get back his lightweight titles.

Earlier, Loma had held unified WBA (Super), WBC, WBO, and The Ring magazine lightweight titles from 2018 to 2020.

Further, he lost his throne to hard hitter Teofimo Lopez, who later could not defend these titles against Australian warrior George Kambosos Jr.

Loma dominated the entire bout and registered a decision victory, which again made him a lightweight contender.

On the other hand, Haney ended the short-lived reign of ‘The Emperor’ in a fantastic fashion. Though he could not produce a TKO, his performance overshadowed the champion Kambosos.

Since Haney and Lomachenko are fighters of similar attributes, their probable slugfest will certainly land an amazing showdown.
