Legendary boxing promoter Bob Arum has made his feelings about UFC president Dana White known, labeling him as a ‘monopolist’. Dana has come under a lot of fire for not canceling upcoming UFC events, despite the obvious health hazards posed to the fighters.

White made it clear that ‘come what may’ the show must go on, and he’s done just that. Dana has 4-5 locations ready for UFC 249, something that doesn’t sit well with other promoters.

“It doesn’t help UFC. It doesn’t help his company. He’s making a fool of himself, particularly in a situation where people have much greater problems to deal with. People are dying. They’re dealing with the isolation. They’re dealing with losing jobs, dealing with businesses being in trouble. What is motivating him to carry it to this point? I just don’t know. I just can’t even guess what it could be” said Arum

White has been praised by many for what he has achieved in the UFC, but his monopolist attitude has been questioned. Arum further stressed, that Dana’s arrogance will never suit boxing and that he won’t make it far as a promoter in the sport.

“Dana has been a good promoter for UFC, but UFC is a monopoly. He tells the fighters who they are going to fight and when they are going to fight, and he pays them very little against what professional boxers get. So he’s a monopolist, and it’s not easy for a monopolist to go into a sport like boxing, which is anti-monopolist,” said Bob Arum

However, despite the criticism he has faced, Dana has come out on several occasions to state that this is his attempt at bringing back ‘normalcy’ during these testing times.

The UFC president recently came on Frank Warren’s podcast and shared his opinion on business in boxing. He labeled it as a “S***-show’ a statement which did not sit well with other promoters.

Dana White has never strayed away from controversy and this time it’s no different.
