The welterweight division has missed out on Terence Crawford vs Errol Spence Jr., the matchup which could have been the biggest fights on the roster at this point. While Spence Jr. has already bagged a fight against Manny Pacquiao, Top Rank kingpin Bob Arum, has accused ‘The Truth’ of ducking a fight against Crawford.

The American promoter has backed his prodigy to beat Errol Spence Jr. and believes that Spence Jr. will avoid the challenge in the future. However, Arum has already sighted some major plans for Terence Crawford, inclusive of a fight against unified 140 lbs champion Josh Taylor.

Speaking with the media, per Michael Benson, Bob Arum said, “Errol Spence knows he can’t beat Terence Crawford, and he’s gonna go up in weight after the Pacquiao fight, so forget it. Crawford’s biggest fight out there as I see it is Josh Taylor… Particularly if we do the fight in the UK, it’d be a massive, massive event.”

Meanwhile, Josh Taylor has just beaten Jose Ramirez to become the undisputed super lightweight world champion. Hence, he is rightly one of the biggest pound-for-pound greats now. As Terence Crawford is residing as an elite just a single weight division above, the champions can stage a blockbuster by going against each other.

Meanwhile, WBO welterweight champion Crawford also has his mandatory defenses. Considering the same, the absence of Errol Spence Jr. may not block Terence Crawford from bagging the lucrative fight offers.

Terence Crawford vs Errol Spence Jr- Will it ever happen?

The current conditions demand a battle between Spence Jr and Crawford. Since both men are undefeated and have world titles in the welterweight division, a unification bout could have been massive. However, Crawford and Spence Jr, have shown very little interest in locking horns. Although fans have demanded to see them fight, the matchup is still a fantasy.

However, that doesn’t take the lifeline away from the bout. Though it may not happen anytime soon, Crawford vs Spence would be an enormous fight.
