Back in the 1990s, if there was one boxer who stirred the fight universe with his terrific prowess, it was Mike Tyson. Prior to him, no one could allure the boxing fraternity to such a mammoth extent. However, ‘Iron’ Mike, with his out-of-the-box power and in-ring conduct, became a true favorite of the sport.

Most of his fights seemed like a highlight because Tyson had the ability to batter his opponents in the first few minutes itself. That said, fans watched his fights in large numbers.

Top Rank boss, Bob Arum, had a different take on Tyson’s deadly in-ring finishes. Speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, Arum shed some light on Tyson’s fights and he also revealed why he stopped promoting ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’.

“He had established this reputation of being this real killer. And so it was hilarious you put him in with a fairly good professional and you could see the opponents’ knees shaking and so Tyson would walk across the ring, throw one punch, knock him out and that was that.”

“But when it goes on repeatedly four quick knockouts, we weren’t getting the air time that was required and we stopped promoting them,” he said.

Tyson debuted in the sport in 1985. For the first five years, he remained undefeated. During this time, ‘Iron’ Mike cemented himself as the genuine heavyweight king, who had the ability to floor his opponents with just one punch.

In total, Tyson held a whopping 50 wins to his name alongside 6 losses in total. However, his T/KO record is something that makes boxing fans stop and stare. Out of all his wins, 44 arrived via T/KO, which eventually took his KO ratio to 75.86%

For many, Tyson was only a one-punch knockout star, but, in reality, ‘Iron’ Mike knew how to set up his opponents in his range to subsequently land his devastating shots.
