Former world champion Keith Thurman is back to action and will take on Mario Barrios on February 5 in the Michelon Ultra Arena, Las Vegas, to resurrect himself in the title again. Before losing his unbeaten tag and the WBA belt to Manny Pacquiao in 2019, ‘One Time’, Thurman was one of the welterweight kingpins of the time.

He was rumored to face Terence Crawford several times. However, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum scraped the idea and accused Thurman of demanding $10 million. Well, Crawford is no longer with Bob Arum and Thurman is also not in a position to go right after ‘Bud’ on his return.

Thurman, however, addressed the issue during an interaction with Brian Custer. He completely ridiculed Bob Arum and displayed his disrespect for the Top Rank honcho again.

Keith Thurman said, “False lies, Bob Arum is a notorious liar and how do I know? Because I never asked for anything. Okay. We don’t put a number out in negotiation. You see what number they bring to you on the table and his number was you know.”

“I should have said 10 million because his number was so low. I gotta bring it up somehow. You know what I mean, I should have said 20 million just to piss him off you know. But we don’t say numbers. We don’t like to say numbers.”

Akin to Thurman, Terence Crawford also ridiculed Bob Arum after his win over Shawn Porter. ‘Bud’ openly criticized Arum and explained how he failed to bag him the Errol Spence Jr. fight. But for Thurman, this is just another scenario where he has bashed the 90-year-old promoter.

Keith Thurman vs Bob Arum is a long-lasting beef

Before the split-up of Crawford from Top Rank, Thurman had predicted it in one of his messages for Bob Arum. Thurman is signed under the PBC and he openly criticized Top Rank for underpaying the fighters. It was a harsher approach from Thurman than what we saw him reflect in the interview with Brian Custer.
